Dr. Elsom opened Cremations at Lone Tree in 2008. The offsite crematorium serves several veterinary clinics in the Black Hills; however, the general public has access to the cremation of their pets as well, no matter what veterinary clinic is used. One of our own Veterinary Technicians manages and personally performs the cremations, start to finish. Once completed, she returns them to the clinics from where they were received to be picked up by their owners. Pets are returned in beautiful, hand carved wooden urns. Or, should a client choose not to receive the ashes, they are spread over private land in the Black Hills. We do not dispose of bodies in landfills.
If needed, Dr. Elsom can assist with euthanasia at Spearfish Animal Hospital. We also offer at-home euthanasia for our already established clients. If your pet has already passed away, you may bring him/her to our clinic for cremation during open hours Monday - Friday from 7:30a - 5:30p and Saturday from 8:00a - 12:00p. Turn-around time is 7-14 days.
